Why Themed Prompts Make Parties Better
The default Wavelength prompts are great for general play, but themed packs take a party to another level. When every spectrum connects to the same topic, the rounds build on each other. Inside jokes snowball. That one friend who claims to have perfect taste in movies gets tested across eight different film spectrums. Someone reveals that they genuinely think airport food is good. The shared context of a theme keeps the energy focused and the laughs coming faster.
Each pack below contains eight prompts designed around a single topic. You can use one pack for a focused session, mix prompts from multiple packs for variety, or combine them with the built-in library. Pick whichever pack matches your group, or just go with whatever you are already arguing about.
Movie Night Pack
For the group that always argues about what to watch. These spectrums cover genres, taste, and the eternal debates of cinema.
Foodie Pack
For the friend group that plans dinner before the current meal is over. Restaurants, cooking, and strong opinions about condiments.
Music Pack
For playlists, car rides, and heated debates about whether that one band is actually good. Genres, artists, and concert culture.
Travel Pack
For anyone who has ever argued about the itinerary. Destinations, travel styles, and the things that make or break a trip.
Internet Culture Pack
For the chronically online. Memes, social media, and the trends that define the way we use the internet.
How to Add Custom Prompts to Your Game
Adding these prompts to your Wavelength game takes less than a minute. Here is how:
Create or edit a game
From the homepage, tap "Create Game" to start a new game. You will see the game settings screen where you can configure everything before inviting players.
Find the custom prompts section
Scroll down to the prompt settings. You will see the built-in prompt packs along with an option to add your own custom prompts. Tap it to open the custom prompt editor.
Add your prompts
Enter the left label and right label for each spectrum. Add as many as you want. Your custom prompts are saved to your device automatically, so you can reuse them in future games without re-entering them.
Mix and match
You can enable your custom prompts alongside the built-in library, or use custom prompts exclusively. For a fully themed party, turn off the built-in packs and use only your custom set. For more variety, keep both enabled and let the game shuffle them together.
Tips for Themed Game Nights
Match the pack to the moment
Use the Movie Night pack after you just watched a film together. Pull out the Foodie pack while you wait for delivery. The Travel pack is perfect for trip-planning sessions or post-vacation hangouts. Themed prompts hit hardest when the topic is already on everyone's mind.
Create your own packs
These five packs are just starting points. The best themed packs are the ones your group makes together. Have a friend who is obsessed with coffee? Make a coffee pack. Weekly trivia group? Build a pack around your trivia categories. The custom prompt feature makes it easy to save and reuse any pack you create.
Rotate packs across game nights
If your group plays regularly, use a different pack each session. This keeps things fresh and gives everyone something new to debate. You can also combine two packs for longer sessions, like mixing Music and Internet Culture for a pop-culture marathon.
