About Wavelength Online

A free multiplayer party game you can play instantly in your browser — no downloads, no installs, no sign-ups required.

What is Wavelength?

Wavelength is a party game about reading each other's minds. Each round, a spectrum appears between two extremes — like "Underrated" to "Overrated" or "Bad Superpower" to "Good Superpower" — and a hidden target is placed somewhere on that spectrum. One player sees the target and gives a clue. Everyone else guesses where they think it lands. The closer your guess, the more points you earn.

Wavelength Online brings this experience to your browser for free. Create a game, share the code, and start playing in seconds — whether you're in the same room or across the world.

Play With Any Number of Friends

Wavelength Online scales to fit your group. The game supports 2 to 12 players and adapts to any size:

  • 2 players: Take turns giving clues and guessing — perfect for couples or a quick 1v1.
  • 3-5 players: The sweet spot for One Psychic mode. One clue-giver, everyone else guesses.
  • 6-12 players: Use Teams mode to split into two teams and compete head-to-head, or try One Guesser mode where everyone gives clues for a single guesser.

Friends can join from any device with a browser — phone, tablet, or laptop. No app downloads, no account creation. Just share the game code and go.

Make It Yours With Custom Prompts

Wavelength Online comes with a library of built-in spectrum prompts, but the real fun starts when you create your own. The custom prompts feature lets you write, save, and reuse your own spectrums — turning every game into something unique to your group.

  • Create prompts based on inside jokes your friend group will love
  • Design themed rounds — movies, food, music, sports, anything
  • Save your favorites and reuse them across games
  • Mix custom prompts with the built-in library, or go fully custom
  • Let the psychic write prompts on the fly for maximum creativity

Whether you want "Worst Pizza Topping" to "Best Pizza Topping" or "Not a Real Word" to "Definitely a Real Word" — if you can think of a spectrum, you can play it.

Perfect For Every Occasion

Wavelength is simple enough to pick up in 30 seconds but endlessly replayable. Here are some of the best ways to play:

Game Night

The go-to pick when your group can't decide what to play. Easy to learn, hard to put down.

Find out how well you really know each other. Great for couples who want a fun, low-key activity.

Remote Hangouts

Play with friends across the world. All you need is a browser and a game code — works on any device.

Classroom Activity

Teachers love it for team building and critical thinking. Works with any subject — just create custom prompts.

Party Warm-Up

Get everyone laughing before the main event. Quick rounds keep energy high and nobody sits out.

Family Gatherings

Bridge the generation gap with spectrums everyone has an opinion on. Ages 10 and up.

Work Team Building

A fun break from slide decks. Learn how your coworkers think — results may surprise you.

Three Game Modes

One Psychic (Default)

One player is the Psychic and sees the hidden target. They give a clue, and everyone else guesses where it falls on the spectrum. The Psychic earns bonus points based on how well the group reads their clue.

One Guesser

Flip the script — everyone gives clues except one player who has to guess them all. Tests how well the group can communicate and how well the guesser can read the room.

Teams

Split into two teams. Each team has a Psychic who gives clues simultaneously. Team members guess together. The team with the best combined score wins the round. Great for larger groups.

Scoring

Exact match: 5 points

Off by 1: 3 points

Off by 2: 2 points

Off by 3: 1 point

Further away: 0 points

Streak bonus: Score points 3 or more turns in a row and earn bonus points — rewarding consistency and good vibes.

Every game can be tailored to your group with these settings:
